DRIVER QUARTET
LIVE ON VIN SCELSA’S ‘IDIOT’S DELIGHT’

Sometime in the late 90’s, Driver Quartet did a show at a short-lived cabaret venue in midtown Manhattan whose name I can’t remember (although I do remember that the band got its own hotel room, which we did not end up using). The show was called ‘Lost Songs,’ and it featured music from old movies that had pretty much been forgotten (‘Here Lies Love’ is an example of this–it was originally sung by Bing Crosby in a 1932 movie called ‘The Big Broadcast’). Somehow Vin Scelsa saw the promo piece for it, and he asked us on his show. It was a huge honor. I think I sound kind of overeager and perhaps too boisterous; but what can you do. It was an earlier, more innocent time. Adam Bernstein / Acoustic Bass. David Driver / Vocals. Peter Kiesewalter / Horns & Accordion. Fil Krohnengold / Piano.
